I've decided to challenge this comment. I don't think of Pip as an adventurous person who is up for anything. When Mrs. Joe and Pumblechook tell Pip that he must go to Ms. Havisham's house, Pip is very skeptical. "...I was not at all at my ease regarding the manner in which I should acquit myself under that lady's roof" (55). Pip also describes the house as "dismal" and you can tell he really doesn't to go in the house. Also, I disagree with the statement that Pip is up for anything and lives every day the the fullest. When the convict asks Pip to get him food, Pip knows that he will have to steal and immediatley gets worried. The convict has to threaten him just to make sure Pip will do what he says. After Pip steals the food, brandy, and file from Joe and Mrs. Joe he is very guilty and worries about it every second. "The gates and dykes and banks came bursting at me through the mist, as if they cried as plainly as could be, 'A boy with Somebody-else's pork pie! Stop him!'...'Holloa, young thief!" (17). This clearly shows how Pip isn't someone who steals often and doesn;t do many adventurous things or else he wouldn't have been hearing things and feeling overly guilty.
